Audio Restoration

Unparalleled Audio Quality
Crystal-Clear Sound

Sequoia delivers powerful features for those who don’t want to compromise on the quality of their results. Restore audio recordings with the built-in spectral cleaning feature, the new AI-powered Acoustica 7, and a whole range of sophisticated plugins.

Spectral Cleaning in Sequoia

Use spectral cleaning to effortlessly remove background noise such as moving chairs, cell phones, or coughing from your live recordings and interviews. Using conventional filters with complex crossfade editing is often time-consuming and results in audible changes to the usable signal. By contrast, spectral cleaning gives you undistorted results in no time at all.

Audio disturbances can be easily selected for removal with the mouse. The spectrograph display and A/B testing options allow you to restore signals quickly and easily. Elements that have gone missing from the original frequency spectrum are recalculated into the recording using interpolation or transitions from the surrounding usable signal.

Threshold Range Editing

With this setting, you can limit interpolation to certain amplitudes in the spectrum. This means specific notes can be removed from the spectrum without influencing background signals. This range determines the volume window in which the set threshold can be interpolated. Quieter or louder signal components outside the area will not be affected.

Logarithmic Display

When working in low-frequency ranges, you can switch the spectrum display from linear to logarithmic. This makes it easier to identify ranges and make precise adjustments to the material.

Broadcast

Comprehensive Broadcast Suite
For Radio and Podcast

Efficient time management is crucial for broadcasters. Sequoia allows you to preview, cut, and arrange material at any point while a recording is still running. This means you can prepare live concert recordings while they are already being broadcast to a media station.

Broadcast CMS and Automation Systems

The interface in Sequoia guarantees seamless workflow integration, whether you’re working on a news or feature production or a larger multi-track project. Productions can be imported and exported from any workstation at the press of a button.

All audio material and Sequoia projects can be saved on database servers. Automatic backup and deletion routines maintain data integrity at all times. Incremental and differential saving results in reduced network load and saves a ton of time. Only project changes are saved, instead of complete projects.

Import/Export of ISRC in Broadcast Wave Files

Exporting in broadcast wave files compliant with EBU Tech 3352 is possible. ISRC information is embedded into the wave file during export with the setting “Each CD track in a file.” ISRCs for wave files are displayed and can be edited in the Broadcast Wave Manager. CD indices that include the respective ISRC and will be used for burning or export can be set automatically using the function “Set track indices on Object Edges.” The BWF ISRC information is embedded into single wave files during CD import. There are also various display options for ISRC in objects.

Auto Ducking

Match background music and voice-overs with precision. This dialog-based tool manipulates volume curves and lowers the music level as soon as someone begins talking on another track. Edits are made using the volume of the audio material in the source track and can be applied to multiple target tracks.

Cue Mode

Cue mode is a special live playback mode often used for cueing sounds in radio broadcasts and theater. You can play back objects contained in the cue mode track in sequence while a recording is taking place in another track simultaneously. For example, when recording radio dramas, you can record a speaker and seamlessly integrate noises and pre-produced elements as script calls.

Playback, Editing and Export During Recording

Live productions rely on the flow of real-time information. Sequoia enables you to listen to your material at any point while a recording’s still running, cut and arrange objects in the project, and export existing material.

Live and Classical Productions

Innovative Editing Workflow For
Live and Classical Productions

Precision, timing, and recording authenticity take top priority for live recordings. Sequoia offers innovative functions such as source/destination cut and multi-sync editing, allowing you to combine the best parts from different takes and create an authentically reproduced track in no time at all. It can all be done in real time thanks to the program’s reliable performance.

Source/Destination Editing

Combine different recordings to create the perfect final version. Two display areas enable you to view and play back source and destination tracks simultaneously. Material in both areas can be navigated, zoomed, and played independently. You can navigate to the source material during playback in the destination area to position markers for the next cut.

Multi-Synchronous Cut (MuSyC)

Simplify the search for similar musical sections and accelerate your editing process. MuSyC allows you to make cuts and precise adjustments to your sound, even in takes recorded at slightly different tempos. Cuts are always made at the correct position, removing the need to search for the beginnings of alternative recordings. You can then continue editing the finished project right away.

Advanced Crossfade Editor

Adjust cuts with precision and create flawless transitions between objects. All crossfades are computed in real time, meaning modifications are immediate and can be played without any intermediate calculations or delay. Even unused material remains visible and can be monitored if necessary – allowing for highly precise adjustments to the transition.

VCA Fader

Working with VCAs (Voltage Controlled Amplifiers) or DCAs (Digital Controlled Amplifiers) makes mixing and finalizing much easier. Channel levels assigned to a VCA group can be controlled using a VCA fader in Sequoia’s mixer.

You can assign as many channel strips as you want to a VCA master fader. Each existing channel strip can also be easily turned into a VCA fader. By displaying “ghost faders,” changes from adjustments made in the VCA Master can also be read in the individual channels.

Free Plugin Routingg

  • No more limitations on the sequence of internal effects and VST plugins. You can now change the order of the plugins any way you want. The only exception is for Object AUX sends – these are still positioned last.
  • Internal effects can now be used multiple times per track/object. Exceptions: EQ, Dynamics, Distortion, and Delay.
  • The order of surround effects can be changed. In this case, the plugins in the individual channels are always calculated before the surround effects. Note: This new functionality is not compatible with the properties of older program versions.

Multiple Outputs

Sequoia lets you easily add or remove additional outputs for even more flexible routing during mixing. You can also assign no outputs to a track and view and select multiple outputs directly in the routing manager.

Different tap points downstream of the volume control (post), upstream of the volume control (pre), or directly after the gain (direct out) make it easier to mix complex music productions.

Automation Modes

Sequoia supports the standard automation modes touch, latch, trim, and overwrite. Automation curves are displayed graphically and can be easily edited.

In addition to volume and panorama, you can also automate VST instrument parameters and plugins on both the track level and object level.

Surround Downmix

In the surround master you can select “Surround downmix” as an output device and use various presets in the Downmix Matrix. Surround buses can now be routed to stereo buses. You can also set the Downmix Matrix here. The downmix is factored in during a stereo master bounce project, i.e. you can stereo bounce from a surround project when downmix is adjusted.

Object-Based Editing

Audio material in Sequoia can be split into as many objects as you want and moved around freely on tracks. You can edit each object with custom fades and effects, even sending to individual AUX channels and the surround bus is possible at object level. The object editor provides real-time access to every object setting. All changes are calculated in real time and you can modify them whenever you want.

Macro Functionality

Being able to manage complex workflows can save you a lot of time during production. Macro functionality in Sequoia enables you to record, program, and run custom command sequences. You can assign up to 128 macros to keyboard shortcuts for quick access. It’s also possible to run macros through markers in a project.

“Several years ago, when I became an independent producer/engineer (having retired from Sony Masterworks), I needed to acquire a full featured DAW that was state of the art with regards to neutrality and sound accuracy as well as a program that allowed me to record, edit, mix, and master my productions in a user-friendly and efficient way. I had heard that Sequoia fulfilled all of those requirements from top engineers. They were right! Over the years, I have made recordings (both as producer and engineer) for many labels that have been quite successful. I really do love this program!"

Jonathan Wyner

Mastering Engineer and Director of Education at iZotope

“Sequoia is the most comprehensive and complete workstation, period. It excels as it fulfills all of my needs as a mastering engineer. The 4-point editing, object-oriented processing, and comprehensive delivery to DDP and codec preview, help me work efficiently all in one ecosystem — now even more so with the addition of simultaneous multi-format export! With 64-bit support and multi-core addressing, Sequoia runs incredibly smoothly, too, and is very stable."

Antony King

Live Audio Engineer

“I love Sequoia for many, many reasons, but the number 1 reason: it’s never crashed. In the ten years that I’ve been using Sequoia, it has never gone wrong. You don’t need a backup. It’s that reliable! We recorded 114 channels every night during the Depeche Mode Global Spirit Tour, and it never crashed."

Producer, Engineer, Recording Artist, Songwriter, Rock Star

“In 2000, I changed my entire studio to a PC-based system with Nuendo 1. After struggling for almost two years on that software and hating the sound, someone suggested I try Samplitude. I did and was elated with its ease of use and layout workability. I’ve been with it ever since. I’ve tried every app on Mac and PC. Nothing can replace what Samplitude and Sequoia do for me. They are all I use and all I need. I can’t go back. Plain and simple."

Credentials
Taylor Swift, Van Halen, Great White, Boys Like Girls, Kenny Logins

Olivier Glissant

Composer, Conductor, Producer

“One thing that impresses me about Sequoia is the complete character of its design. The software does not specialize. Whatever domain you use it for (production, broadcasting, mastering, film scoring) in whatever style of music, you find the same quality, complexity, depth, and features that you probably never even thought about looking for in any program, before stumbling across them in Sequoia."

Credentials
Philip Glass, Norah Jones, Bill Frisel | Brooklyn Orchestra

Oleksa Lozowchuk

Music Director, Composer, Producer

“I’ve been using Samplitude and Sequoia for almost 20 years now. I can’t imagine working without them. They allow me to achieve flow more quickly than any other DAW. I really couldn’t function at this level without Comparisonics viewing, object-based editing, and its in-line spectral editing and solid cross-fade workflow. It helps bring my ideas to life."

Bruce Somers

Producer, Songwriter, Sound & Mastering Engineer

“he program is by far the most efficient DAW out there on the market. It never stops running, even when I load it up with a ton of plugins. The mastering workflow is considered the gold standard by most mastering engineers, which is why I started using it years ago. I am always amazed how much better, faster, and more efficient Sequoia is than my old mastering platforms. Having a super stable DAW platform like Sequoia makes everything possible."

Terence Goodchild

Live Audio Engineer

“Sequoia not only gives me a digital first aid kit to solve any problem, it provides a modular toolbox with precise instruments, a rock-solid audio engine, and great support to adapt to nearly any task and situation I can think of. Modern productions require an engineer to handle complex audio scenarios under time constraints, often with high responsibility. Sequoia helps me concentrate on my work."

“The technical depth of the software and its creative musical workflow are very well balanced. It’s incredibly easy and fast to bring the sounds I envision to life. Operations are well displayed on screen. Everything appears clear and understandable. All the plugins are light and powerful! Sequoia’s sound is great, transparent, and super defined."
