โ2-D Export to After Effects & Etc
If you'd rather work in After Effect's 2-D environment, or you only have 2-D planar trackers, you can use the After Effects 2-D from Planars exporter.
Note : there are comparable 2-D corner pin exports for Fusion 7 and Nuke, though the discussion here describes AE in particular. Exports should be possible for other compositing applications that support animated 4-corner pins. If you are interested in that and willing to supply sample data and otherwise help, contact us.
It will create a simple 2-D After Effects composition with the original footage and a 2-D placeholder layer for each planar tracker. The placeholder will have an animated 4-corner pin using the SynthEyes tracking data. The 2-D exporter can be an easy solution for simple tasks such as monitor insertions or sign replacements. (You do not have to run the export preparation script.)
As with the 3-D export, you can replace the placeholder with whatever still image, footage, or composition you want, using usual After Effects functions. You can ALT-drag (Win) or Opt-Drag (Mac) replacement footage into the planar tracker layer.
Replacement footage should have the same size as the original shot; due to the details of After Effects operation. If you need to change to images of a different size, put the different-sized footage in a new comp with the same size as the main original shot, then replace the placeholder with the comp.
Both 2-D and 3-D planar trackers can be exported using the 2-D exporter. Note that there is no FOV consistency requirement for 3-D planar trackers when using the 2-D exporter, because there is no camera in the AfterEffects setup.
